Boastful Corporal Seen In Viral Video Checking Commuter’s Dismissed By Police

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a police officer, Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri for gross misconduct, disobedience to lawful order, and assault on a member of the public captured in a viral video on August 3, 2022.

Kadiri, who was enlisted into the Force on December 6, 2016, was seen on a video that went viral on the internet, unlawfully searching a commuter’s phone by the roadside. He was also boastful about his unlawful act.

This was contrary to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

The dismissed officer, with Force No. 509745 was attached to Dolphin Divisional Headquarters, Lagos Police Command.

The Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed his dismissal in a statement on Friday, saying the police it took effect from August 12, 2022.

The NPF further called on officers and men of the Force to maintain professionalism and civility to members of the public in the discharge of their duties in line with extant laws.

The statement also urged members of the public to ensure proper conduct in all encounters with police to avoid infractions that may lead to prosecution.
