Bandits on Friday killed at least 15 worshippers in an attack on a mosque in Ruwan Jema community in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State during Juma’at service.
The attack, which took place at about 2 p.m, left many others injured.
“The armed bandits came on motorbikes while holding their guns and moved straight to the mosque and began to shoot sporadically [at] us,” resident Amimu Mustapha said.
The spokesman for the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, had yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
The attack comes barely three weeks after 44 worshippers were abducted at a mosque in Zugu community in the same local government area.
