Dozens of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar were on Wednesday injured by thugs who attacked Atiku’s convoy in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Atiku’s convoy was reportedly attacked just as he left the Palace of the Shehu of Borno to Ramat Square, venue of the presidential rally.
This was disclosed by the Spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye on Wednesday.
Melaye alleged that the attack was perpetrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno state.
He also stated that several vehicles were destroyed following the attack.
“They wanted to prevent us from holding the campaign, as we speak, 74 people were injured and hospitalised.
“Several vehicles were vandalised by APC thugs,” he said.
Atiku, while addressing thousands of supporters later at a rally, sympathised with the injured, saying no amount of intimidation can stop the PDP from sending the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) packing from the Aso Rock and the Borno State Government House in 2023.
