Gov Fintiri Declares 24-hour Curfew In Adamawa As Residents Loot Warehouses Amid Hardship

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has declared a 24-hour curfew on Adamawa State, following a breakdown of law and order across the State.

In the face of unprecedented biting times and non deliverance of the promised palliatives, residents had taken the law into their hands, looting warehouses and carting away foodstuffs and other valuables.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, said the curfew takes immediate effect.

Governor Fintiri said in the statement that the curfew followed the dangerous dimension the activities of hoodlums had assumed across the state capital city as they attack people with matches and break into private business premises and homes carting away people’s belongings.

The statement said that during the period of the curfew, there will be no movement throughout the state, except those on essential duties with valid identification.

It added that any person found contravening the order would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
