Military Buries 22 Officers Killed In Niger

No fewer than 22 military personnel, who recently died in combat in Niger State, were on Friday laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

Recall that at least 36 officers were killed in battle, including an air mission, on August 14, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

The officers’ helicopter was shot down by some insurgents in the Zungeru area of Niger State.

The troops were deployed to Kundu village in Wushishi Local Government Area after bandits terrorized the area recently.

Some of the deceased officers had already been buried by their various families, remaining the 22, who were buried on Friday.

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and other service chiefs were present at the cemetery.
