Supreme Court Finally Fixes Oct 5 To Hear Nnamdi Kanu’s Appeal

The Nigerian Supreme Court has finally fixed Thursday, October 5, to hear the appeal of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu’s lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), disclosed to the Press on Saturday.

IPOB’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, also confirmed it, saying all appeals filed by Kanu would be heard on Thursday.

Recall that on October 13, 2022, that the Court of Appeal, Abuja Judicial Division, discharged and acquitted Kanu.

Curiously, the same court on October 28, 2022 granted a stay of execution of its on judgement, despite the fact that the agency detaining the IPOB leader, Department of State Services, had snubbed the court’s order of release for at least five days.

As a court of public policy, it is shocking that it took the apex court almost a year to hear the appeal filed by the Federal Government on October 13, 2022 – notwithstanding the restiveness in the Southeast, arising from the continous detention of Mr. Kanu despite the Court Appeal’s order for his unconditional release.
