The Court of Appeal in Abuja has invalidated the election of Senator Elisha Abbo representing Adamawa North district.
In a judgment delivered on Monday, the court set aside the affirmation of Abbo’s election by the Tribunal and declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Amos Yohanna, as the rightful winner of the senatorial election.
A three-member panel of Justices held that there was merit in an appeal that was lodged by Yohanna.
Recall that Abbo had in 2019 assaulted a lady, Ms. Osimibibra Warmate, in a sex toy shop in Abuja.
Consequently, he was ordered by an Abuja High Court to pay N50million damages to the lady.
The decision was also upheld by the appellate court led by Justice Jamilu Tukur.
