Explosion Rocks Rivers Assembly Amid Plot To Impeach Gov Fubara

An explosion hit the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on Sunday night.

CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathered that some suspected arsonists threw an explosive into the complex around 9:25 pm.

This comes amid rumours of alleged moves by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara. It is not yet clear if former governor Nyesom Wike is behind the plot to remove Fubara.

It was further gathered that plans had been concluded by some lawmakers in the state legislature to first impeach the House leader, Eddison Ehie, so as to make Fubara’s removal possible.

Ehie is said to have been blocking moves to impeach Fubara.

Meanwhile, over 17 security trucks and four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), have been stationed at the facility with over 50 Federal Security personnel mobilized at the complex.
