Shock As INEC Head Of Voter Education In Imo Walks Out On Arise News Live Interview

TV viewers were shocked on Friday night when one of those burdened with redeeming the battered image of the Independent National Electoral Commission Emanuella Ben-Opara walked out of live interview with Arise Tv.

Mrs Ben-Opara is the Head of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity in Imo State and her action left voters guessing why she was so nervous ahead of tomorrow’s Imo governorship election, amid accusation of bias by the opposition against the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Roseline Agu.

Mrs. Ben-Opara, who was getting ready to be interviewed on Arise Tv’s Prime Time show was already seated in the makeshift studio at the INEC headquarters when the anchor before she stormed out after the anchor Charles Aniagolu mentioned calls by the opposition for Agu’s redeployment.

The opposition parties said they have lost confidence in her leadership.

While Mr. Aniagolu was still making the introductory remarks, Ben-Opara walked out and said she can’t continue with the interview for personal reasons. Her irresponsible action left both the anchor and viewers flabbergasted.

The call for the removal of the REC is not unconnected to the conduct of the commission in the last general Elections where the opposition parties accused her of bias.

However, NEC claimed that there was no enough evidence for her removal.
