Opunabo Inko-Tariah, a former aide to ex-Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, says his former boss does not even have the clout he claims he has, calling he is “an opportunist.”
Inko-Tariah said this on Arise TV’S morning show on Thursday.
According to him, Wike chose Sim Fubara because he wanted a someone he could control to succeed him. But like we know, “when a man is pushed to the wall he bounces back double.”
Inko-Tariah alleged that Fubara is ‘manacled’ by Wike that he could not do anything without a prior approval from the former governor, now minister of the federal capital territory, FCT.
He claimed that it was Wike who decided those that were appointed aides and commissioners in Fubara administration. And that he even banned Fubara from setting up the office of the First Lady.
When asked if it is true that Wike now controls both the structures of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, he said it is an “incontrovertible” fact.
“Under Wike, it was a reign of terror. People did not speak out because of fear, and not out of respect or love for Wike, unlike his successor, Fubara, who the people rallied behind as there was an attempt to illegally impeach him,” he said.
On why Fubara has been slow in infrastructure development unlike his predecessor, Inko-Tariah said former Governor Wike only embarked on mass projects because “he wanted to feather his pocket.”
“What infrastructure are we even talking about? For eight years (under Wike), there was no Agriculture in Rivers State,” he recalled.
He added that jobs were not created, which spiked unemployment and made Rivers rank second as the “least unemployed.”
As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Wike had yet to respond to these.
