Emefiele: EFCC Operatives Search Dangote Head Office

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday besieged the Head office of the Dangote Group of Companies in Lagos State.

It was gathered that the operatives were having a look at the company’s records.

The search commenced at the company’s head office in Lagos around 3 p.m. and its part of ongoing probe by the EFCC of foreign exchange allocations made to about 52 companies, including Dangote Plc, during the tenure of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

“The commission (EFCC) is investigating Dangote Plc and about 51 other big companies. The commission discovered that the allocations were not approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari,” a source told the Punch.

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development but could not disclose the reason for the visit.
