The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has snubbed an invitation by the Code of Conduct Bureau over an ongoing investigation bordering on alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers.
Spokesperson for the CCB, Veronica Kato, confirmed this to the press few hours after the embattled minister failed to appear before the Bureau.
Mr. Ojo had been scheduled to meet with interrogators at 11am, but did not show up at the bureau in Abuja.
Kato said the minister’s interrogation would be rescheduled for a later date following his memo to the bureau citing national assignment.
The CCB had invited Ojo over the involvement of his company in a ₦438 million contract with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The company, New Planet Projects, allegedly belonging to the minister, benefitted from a contract from the ministry.
While the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation was suspended pending the outcome of investigation, Mr. Ojo was allowed to remain in office.
Though he had denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he had resigned from the company five years ago.
