
The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Julius Abure, has been arrested by security operatives in Benin City, Edo State.
Abure was arrested on Wednesday, a few days before the party’s primary election in Edo State.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathered that he was arrested by operatives of the Zone 5 police headquarters in Benin.
It was further gathered that his arrest was due to a petition sent to the Zone from the office of the Inspector General of Police in Abuja.
The LP Chairman was seen in viral videos being forcibly handled by police officers, while his supporters from the LP party tried to stop his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zone, Tijani Momoh has confirmed Abure’s arrest.
