Soldiers Bar Journalists As Gov Oborevwori Visits Troubled Okuama Community In Delta

The military Joint Task Force has barred journalists from covering the visit of Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area four days after the killing of military officers and civilians.

The governor was on an assessment visit on Monday to see first-hand the extent of the destruction in the troubled community.

There were reports of indescriminate razing of houses by the military following the killings.

The JTF operatives barricaded the major entries to Okuama with an armoured personnel carrier tank, which prevented vehicular and human traffic, including journalists, from gaining access to the community.

However, Oborevwori, who was received by the leader of the military JTF, General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigeria Army, Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam.

Both men had a closed-door meeting which lasted for nearly an hour.
