Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Aloy Ejimakor, has alleged that the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) are taken steps to deny his client a fair hearing.
Kanu’s lawyer raised the alarm in a post he made on X announcing after his visit to the IPOB leader who has been in the custody of the DSS since 29 June 2021.
He said DSS operatives seized a vital legal document from him, which he had taken to Kanu for his preview, vowing that the IPOB leader would not tried under violations of that kind, adding that, “it is not a court-martial.”
According to Ejimakor, the secret police officials collected the document from him without returning it till he left.
“I just exited from today’s visitation with Onyendu #MNK. I took a critical legal document to him to preview it, but, as usual, the DSS seized the document and never brought it back until I left,” Ejimakor wrote.
“MNK will NEVER BE TRIED under violations like this. It’s not a court-martial. #FairHearing,” he wrote.
Justice Binta Nyako had last week ordered an accelerated hearing of seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony against Kanu after denying him bail.
She then adjourned the trial to April 17.
