Storm Not Yet Over For Gov Fubara As Rivers Assembly Threatens With Impeachment

It appears that Govermor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State House of Assembly has not survived the stormy start to his tenure as the House of Assembly threatened on Saturday that it will not hesitate to impeach the state governor , if it becomes the last resort to uphold the Constitution.

Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, issued the threat at a media briefing in Port Harcourt, flanked by 26 of his colleagues.

This comes as the 27 lawmakers, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, berated the former Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council led by Dr Abiye Sekibo over its recent attack on Wike.

Recall that there has been an uneasy calm following a lopsided peace accord between Mr. Fubara and his predecessor, at the instance of President Bola Tinubu.

Key stakeholders in Rivers State and majority of the people had urged Gov Fubara not to sign the peace agreement, But he went on to do it, saying that there is no price he would not pay for peace to reign in the state.
