In what would be seen as a warning to his estranged political godfather Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has said that his decision to implement the controversial Presidential resolution is a mark of respect for President Bola Tinubu and should not be misconstrued as weakness if not he will surprise those thinking in that direction.
Governor Fubara stated this on Wednesday at Government House Gate when he addressed members of Rivers State Local Government Workers under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) who were on solidarity and thank you visit.
This comes barely four days after the Rivers State House Assembly, loyal to former Governor Wike, who is now FCT minister, threatened that it will not hesitate to impeach the state governor , if it becomes the last resort to uphold the Constitution.
Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, issued the threat at a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Saturday, flanked by 26 of his colleagues.
Responding invariably while addressing the workers, Governor Fubara said, “But let me say it here, if that action that I have accepted to follow will be taken for my weakness I will surprise them.”
According to him, the resolution he is implementing is not constitutional, but a political solution to the crisis that erupted in the state some time ago.
