Ex-Imo Gov Ihedioha Visits Alex Otti Of Abia

Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who last week dumped the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has paid a visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, which would again trigger more speculations about his political future.

Ihedioha was spotted at the Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South residence of Governor Otti on Sunday.

Gov. Otti is the only Labour Party Governor in the South East and country as well.

The former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, who was on a private visit was warmly received by his host.

A Government House source said the two men later retired into a closed-door meeting.

The agenda of their meeting was not disclosed but pundits believe it might not be unconnected with the political developments in Imo State, and the possibilities of the former Governor joining the Labour Party.

Ihedioha last week dumbed the PDP, citing the party’s inability to carry out internal reforms and provide credible opposition as his reason for leaving.

The former Imo State governor, whose tenure was truncated by a controversial supreme court decision in 2020, had been seen before 2023 by the majority of Imo people as their governor in waiting.

However, an unnecessary outburst against the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, eroded much of the tremendous goodwill he enjoyed among the people, especially Imolites.

Perhaps Ihedioha, by the visit to Otti, has taken the first step in gathering back his scattered political sheep.
