The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their industrial action, which commenced Monday over poor minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff.
The TUC president Festus Osifo confirmed this in Abuja on Tuesday after a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting of the unions, saying the strike will be suspended for five days.
A communique will be issued shortly, the labour chief said.
Labour leaders had a good meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, and other government officials on Monday and reached a resolution that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to a new minimum wage higher than N60,000, which the federal government had offered Labour.
They also resolved that the Tripartite Committee would meet every day for the next one week with a view to arriving at an agreeable National Minimum Wage.
At a meeting with FG Tripartite Committee on Tuesday morning, Labour decided to temporarily suspend its strike.
