Ndume Removed As Senate Chief Whip Over ‘Anti Tinubu’ Comments

The Senate has removed Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu, which had been recently described by Senator Sunday Karimi as being driven by a ‘pull-down syndrome.’

Ndume was immediately replaced with Senator Tahir Monguno.

Ndume’s replacement by the Senate followed a directive issued to that effect in a letter written by the National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.

In the letter, they told Senate president Godswill Akpabio to ask Chief Whip Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) to resign from the party and join either the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or any of the opposition party.

The APC also demanded the removal of Senator Ndume as Chief Whip of the 10th Senate and that h should be replaced with Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC, Borno North).

The ruling party said that Ndume’s complaints about President Bola Tinubu are unbecoming and his utterances are not favourable to the Federal Government.

The request was put to voice votes by the Senate President and loudly affirmed by all the APC Senators.

Recall that Senator Karimi had in a statement on Saturday, cautioned Ndume over his derogatory statements against Tinubu’s administration.

According to Karimi, Ndume’s behaviour is “likened to that of a loose cannon” while he emphasised the need for constructive dialogue and criticism in governance.

He explained that most of Ndume’s criticisms of Tinubu’s administration appear to stem from a personal agenda to undermine the government at all costs.

Senator Ndume had yet to comment on his removal as at the time of filing this report.
