Explosion has rocked the Action People’s Party, APP, secretariat, located in the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday precisely around 1am.
The assailants reportedly threw dynamites into the building housing the secretariat, destroying windows and doors, as well as other property of the party.
This comes amid rumours that the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, plans to decamp from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APP with his supporters.
A party official, who chose to remain anonymous, told Daily Post that the incident was politically-motivated.
He said “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack at about 3 am today
“This is politically-motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits.”
However, The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was not yet aware of the incident.
