The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has left the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) headquarters in Abuja after he was questioned by the police over phony allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.
Ajaero, who arrived at the IRT office around 10:15 a.m., left at 11:18 a.m.
It was gathered that the NLC leader also submitted a statement.
Ajaero, who did not speak to journalists at the IRT headquarters, said he would address the press at the NLC headquarters in Abuja.
The police had previously invited Ajaero to appear at the IRT office on August 20 at 10 a.m. over suspicious allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.
Meanwhile, the police had yet to further substantiate the allegations or give more details. This has led to the belief in many quarters that Ajaero is only being persecuted for not being a pro-government labour leader.
Ajaero was however indisposed to attend on the initial date but honored the invitation today.
He was accompanied by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana, Marshal Abubakar, Deji Adeyanju, and other senior NLC officials.
