Masked gunmen Sunday stormed Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing scores during the Onwa Asaa festival – a traditional community celebration.
The gunmen, reportedly driving a black Lexus SUV, invaded an eatery in the community and opened fire indiscriminately.
The attack left at least 15 people dead, leaving others wounded.
Amid the shooting, festival-goers fledfor their lives.
The motive behind the attack remains speculative as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, policemen and other security operatives have been deployed to maintain order in the community.
The police command has confirmed that investigations into the incident have commenced.
