Gani Adams Slams N5bn Lawsuit On Sunday Igboho Over Alleged Privacy Invasion

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland Iba Gani Adams has slammed a ₦5 billion lawsuit on Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in an Oyo State High Court for allegedly damaging his reputation.

Adams alleged that Igboho illegally recorded and publicly released a private phone conversation between him and another person, without his consent.

Igboho’s action has damaged his reputation, Adams claimed in suit number M/1006/2024.

He is seeking exemplary damages to address the harm he believes was done and the enforcement of his fundamental rights as guaranteed by Section 37 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution (as amended), which guarantees the right to privacy.

Adams argued that releasing his private phone conversations without his consent is “unlawful, illegal, and unconstitutional.”

He said Igboho’s actions are “reckless and injurious” to his position as the Aare Ona Kakanfo.

Igboho publicly shared the recorded conversation on social media in April 2024, creating “serious embarrassment” for him, Adams claimed.

According to him, his private rights were therefore violated.
