Our attention has been drawn to the defamatory allegations published in the Daily Trust on February 3, 2025, by Suleiman A. Suleiman. These allegations falsely claim that Donnington Nigeria Limited, Donnington International AG, and its technical partners Vortexa UK and DP World UAE lack the experience to execute the Advance Cargo Declaration and Cargo Tracking Note (ACD/CTN) scheme contract.
We categorically refute these claims and affirm that our company and its foreign partners possess more than sufficient expertise to execute such contracts, as evident in our company profile. A thorough investigation has revealed that the allegations are a desperate attempt by frustrated individuals with conflict of interests to blackmail us through the press.
Notably, the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), particularly the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), have already evaluated our qualifications and found us suitable for the contract. It is puzzling that this issue is now being raised in an Opinion Editorial.
We reiterate that these false claims are malicious and intended to mislead the public and our stakeholders. The author, Suleiman A. Suleiman, appears to be misinformed about the project and has likely been persuaded by companies that lost the ICTN contract to publish a misleading article.
This action exposes Suleiman, his cohorts, and the newspaper to potential libel liability. We expect national dailies to verify opinion editorial content before publication to avoid spreading misinformation. As a publicly listed company, we adhere to transparent corporate governance laws and rules, and we will pursue this matter to a logical conclusion.
We refrain from further comment on a case that is already sub judice, a fact that doesn’t appear to bother A. Suleiman.
