Suspected Herders Kill Four In Benue, Burn Many Houses

Suspected armed herders have killed four people and destroyed properties in many areas of Tombu Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

A community leader in the area, Joseph Anawah, told the Punch that the incident happened on Monday.

Anawah said, “Suspected Fulani marauders at about 15:00 hours burnt down many deserted settlements, including Tse Mku in Tombu Council Ward.

“Two people were killed in their farmlands located at the outskirts of Ayilamo settlement yesterday (Monday). They were Mr. Kaananfam Nyamikume, a resident of Tse Jigam village and Mr. Mson of Guma LGA, as well as a medicine seller.

“While one Mr. Saaondo Mundu Azaye, a resident of Tse Azaye, was also killed.”

The community leader said residents, including the youth of Ayilamo and neighbouring settlements, on Tuesday, went in search of the missing persons and found two dead bodies near Tse Uza settlement, but the other two farmers are still missing.

Anawah alleged that the attackers were camped at Tse Ibor, Tse Ukpukuru, in Anyibe, and other deserted settlements within the Mbawien clan in Tombu Council Ward, Logo LGA.

The Benue State Command, DSP Udeme Edet, had yet to comment on the incident as of  the time of filing this report.
