Arise TV presenter Ojy Okpe has given more details about how former beauty queen and staff of Arise News TV, Sommie Maduagwu died during an armed robbery attack in her 16-apartment building in the Katampe area of Abuja, on Monday.
She said she gathered from their Abuja correspondence that late Sommie jumped down from her apartment after she got information that 15 armed robbers had invaded their residence.
The armed robbers reportedly moved from one apartment to another, dispossessing residents of their belongings.
It was said that the the police were alerted but failed to arrive on time.
It was disclosed that a terrified Sommie, who got wind of the presence of the robbers, attempted to escape before the robbers reached her apartment.
She reportedly jumped out of her window, sustaining severe injuries from the fall.
Sommie was said to have been rushed to the Maitama District hospital but the hospital staff delayed in treating her, demanding some form of identification before they could commence treatment.
Sommie died at the hospital.
It was also gathered that the apartment security, who had engaged the robbers on their arrival, was also shot, and he died from the injury.
He left behind a wife and a little son.
