BREAKING: Finance Minister Wale Edun Flown Abroad After Reportedly Suffering Stroke, CBN Gov To Temporarily Take Over His Duties – Presidency says

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, is currently sick and indisposed, the presidency said on Sunday.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, will temporarily take over his duties and lead the country’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Washington, DC, starting Monday, October 13, in place of Wale Edun.

“Cardoso, as the alternate Governor, replaces the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, who is indisposed,” Onanuga said.

The statement added that the Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete.

It was however gathered that Mr Edun had been flown abroad for treatment after reportedly suffering stroke.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that President Tinubu is considering appointing a replacement for Edun.
