Those Who Condemned My Politics, Now Defecting To APC – Wike Mocks Gov Diri, Others

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike Wednesday mocked two governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who recently defected to the ruling party, saying those who once accused him of working to destabilize the PDP are now running to the All Progressives Congress, APC for shelter.

Recall that some PDP chieftains had knocked Wike, who is a PDP member, for accepting a ministerial role under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

But the minister, who spoke during the flag-off of the construction of the Main Carriageways of Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, by Shoprite Junction in Apo area of Abuja, urged the former PDP members to commend him for working for the APC, which he said paved the way for their defection.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and his Bayelsa counterpart Duoye Diri, both of the PDP, had defected to the APC. Some PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly had also defected to the APC, and it has become increasingly likely that there would be more defections to the ruling party – ahead of the 2027 general election.

Wike said, “People who said I want to destabilize the PDP,  that I am working for the APC, all of them are now in APC.

“I’m very happy that very soon I will speak to Nigerians. I have been watching on daily televisions and social media people who said I want to destabilize the party. I’m working for APC, and all of them are now in APC.”
