Mr. Ahmed Bolakele Gambari, one of the administrators of the estate of the late Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness (Dr.) Zulqarnain Gambari-Muhammad, CFR, has been brought before the Ilorin High Court by some heirs of the late Emir over allegations of breach of trust and fraudulent dealings relating to the administration of the estate.
In Suit No. KWS/581/2025, the plaintiffs, through an ex-parte application, sought before Hon. Justice H.T. Kawu an interim order of injunction to restrain certain actions pending the determination of the substantive motion on notice, as well as an order for substituted service on the respondents.
When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, Princess Bilkisu Tinuola Gambari, one of the seven claimants and a plaintiff in the matter—appearing on behalf of herself and the other heirs—told the court that no lawyer was willing to represent them due to concerns over personal safety.
In response to a question from the court as to why the issue was not resolved within the palace, Princess Bilkisu explained that after thirty-four (34) years of unsuccessful attempts at internal resolution, the plaintiffs were left with no option but to seek justice through the court of law.
The court, however, declined to grant the ex-parte motion and adjourned the matter to Thursday, December 18, 2025, for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued on behalf of the plaintiffs, they expressed confidence in the Nigerian judicial system and reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing all lawful and legitimate legal avenues to ensure the fair, transparent, and just administration of the late Emir’s estate in accordance with Islamic injunctions, the wishes of the deceased, established family traditions, and the law.
The plaintiffs further urged all concerned parties and the general public to remain calm and law-abiding as the matter proceeds before the court, emphasizing that the rule of law must prevail.
“We remain guided by faith in Almighty Allah, respect for the judiciary, and our commitment to truth and justice. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses,” the statement concluded.
