Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on all seven terrorism-related charges brought against him by the federal government of Nigeria.
According to the judge, the prosecution had successfully established each allegation beyond reasonable doubt.
He noted that Kanu failed to provide a credible defense and “deliberately refused” to counter the evidence presented by the government.
However, in a viral video, Kanu had asked the judge to identify the section of the Nigerian law under which he was being prosecuted before he could be asked to enter a defence.
The judge had refused to rule on that point of law in the last hearing before adjourning for judgement.
