Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has been removed by President Bola Tinubu.
Egbetokun is to be replaced by AIG Tunji Disu, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Force CID Annex, Lagos.
CPC NEWS gathered that he was forced to resign on Monday by President Bola Tinubu.
Egbetokun, who was 58 years old on appointment as IGP, was due for retirement on 4 September 2024, on reaching the mandatory age of 60.
However, for some reason, Tinubu kept him as IGP, and got the National Assembly to carry out some kind of amendment in a bid to legitimize the apparent illegality.
That nonetheless, from that point, some critics, like the Publisher of Saharareporters, Mr. omoyele Sowore, referred to him as “Illegal IGP”.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the Nigeria police authorities have kept mum obver the change of leadership.
