Special Security Squad “Harasses” Atiku With Elaborate Search On Arrival From Dubai

atiku - i stand

Special security squad, allegedly deployed by the Presidency, has “harrassed” Mr. Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate as he returned from holiday in Dubai.

The special security squad comprised of Army, Police, Custom and Immigration officers conducted a thorough search on the former Vice President and his aircraft, Blueprint reports.

Video recording gadgets and other devices were reportedly used to capture the search, but nothing implicating was found on the Adamawa-born Politician.

Mr. Atiku later confirmed the development.

He said, “I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff.

“I am committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is intimidated by agents of state who are paid to protect them,” Atiku said on his Twitter handle shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.”

Reacting to the incident, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce took to his verified Twitter handle @benmurraybruce and tweeted, “I totally condemn this reckless harassment of @atiku the candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig as he landed in Abuja.

“Nigeria is not a fascist state. We will not return to a jackboot dictatorship. This government should face Atiku at the polls, not with force.”
