Senator Danjuma Goje, who had rattled his party chieftains with his Senate presidency ambition, has withdrawn from the race and endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan, the anointed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to lead the ninth senate.
This followed a meeting both Senators had with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, confirmed the outcome of the meeting to State House Correspondents.
Goje said he has put his ambition on ice, in respect of the wish of the party and President Buhari.
