Gunmen Storm Varsity In North-Central Nigeria, Abduct Students

Gunmen have abducted six students of Nasarawa State University in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State in North-Central Nigeria.

The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has stepped up efforts to secure the safe release of the students.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, the attack occurred around 9 pm on Wednesday when armed men invaded an off-campus hostel at Anguwar Ninzo in Gudi, on the outskirts of the town.

He said six of the victims have so far been identified as students of the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, while another victim was said to be a visitor at the lodge at the time of the incident.

The police spokesman said the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
