‘Boko Haram Killed My Husband, Sexually Molested Me’ – Rescued Victim

Zainab Ayuba, one of the 360 Boko Haram captives, who were on Sunday rescued by Nigerian troops, has recounted how the terrorists killed her husband and sexually molested her.

She was among the people, mostly women and children, who were abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Ngoshe community of Gwoza local government area of Borno State in the Northeast of Nigeria since 3rd March, 2026.

Ayuba, now taking refuge at Pulka Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp with other rescued captives, described her experience in Boko Haram’s captivity as horrible and not somnething she would not even wish for her enemies.

She said, “The experience is horrible and inhuman, because I was seriously molested sexually while in captivity. I prayed for even my enemies not to fall prey to Boko Haram terrorists.”

Also another female victim, who gave her name as Hauwa Yusuf, said she had to battle hunger while they were held hostage.

She said she only gets one square meal per day, and that the food was mainly guinea corn, maize and powdered grains without any substances or soup.
