
The about 270 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa amid targeted xenophobic attacks have arrived safely in Lagos aboard Air Peace, courtesy of the Nigerian Government.
The evacuees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday .
It is part of a coordinated evacuation effort by the Federal Government in response to renewed attacks targeting foreign nationals, especially Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa, with the South African Government doing less to stop the violence.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, was expected to receive the returnees.
