VIDEO: Massive Protests Erupts In Abia As Residents Demand Release Of IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu

Scores of Afarukwu residents in Abia State Monday staged a peaceful demonstration, demanding the immediate release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Maxi Nnamdi Kanu, who is serving a controversial life sentence in a Sokoto prison.

Kanu, who hails from Afarukwu, was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho on terrorism-related charges after spending over five years in DSS custody following his extra-ordinary rendition from Kenya, which Nigeria’s apex court held was illegal.

He  is currently challenging his giulty verdict at the Court of Appeal.
