You Lack Energy To Lead Nigeria, You Must Go Home – Peter Obi Tells Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC) Peter Obi delivered a fiery speech at the inauguration of the party’s campaign council on Monday, saying President Bola Tinubu “must go home” because he lacks the energy to lead Nigeria.

He also said that Tinubu has made history by creating the highest number of poor people in Nigeria’s history since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

“President Tinubu has led government that lacks competence, government that lacks capacity, compassion and commitment to deal with Nigerian problem.

“Tinubu, go home! You don’t have the energy to lead Nigeria. You spent over 200 days out of Nigeria, but can’t spare 30 days to go round and campaign.

“Above all, President Tinubu does not have the energy and resolve that is required for Nigeria today. And he must go home,” Obi said during his speech in Abuja.

While the crowd chanted “Tinubu must go home, Tinubu must go home in applause, Obi added, “Nigeria cannot be governed with his energy of today.”

According to him, Nigeria needs a president that is available, “and if they say there is a problem in Jos, he will go to Jos.”

He added, “We will not be in government and people will kidnap 600 people and go to the bush, we will go into that bush with them.

“Thats what we need today, and not a government when there is a problem, our president will run away.”

The former Anambra governor also criticized Tinubu for being out of the country for over 260 days during his short tenure “but now cannot take 30 days to go round this country and tell the people what he did in the past three years with their money.”

Obi promised that the NDC government will lead a revolution that will change Nigeria, saying it would start with corruption, which he said is what is crippling Nigeria.

We would fight corruption like nobody has ever done, he assured.

According to him, despite massive borrowing, there is no single indicator under the Tinubu Govt that has improved – due to corruption.

The NDC presidential candidate vowed that he and his running mate Rabiu Kwakwanso would declare emergency on security, corruption health, education and power if elected.

He regretted that despite Tinubu’s promise to fix Nigeria’s power problem, “power consumption is at its lowest under him.”

On education, he promised to take school children off the streets, recalling what Kwakwanso achieved in Kano in education while he was governor.

He further issued a stern warning to those planning to rig the 2027 elections, saying “anybody who rigs 2027, we will rig him!”
