Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola says President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should retire from active politics on grounds of old age and allow younger Nigerians to take over the country’s leadership.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Oyinlola argued that age should be a consideration in determining who seeks public office.
The former governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he supports Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is seeking the presidency on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), for the 2027 election.
“When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state,” Oyinlola said.
According to him, Tinubu and Atiku should step aside to give younger elements an opportunity to lead Nigeria.
