The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun disclosed today at a meeting with Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) that Nigeria spends a whooping N165bn monthly paying salaries of federal civil servants, ghost workers included.
The minister said that this is too hihj and not sustainable and that government is doing all to weep ghost workers and saboteurs in the system and prosecute them.
“We spend 165 billion every month on salaries and when I came in there was no checking. Now, we have created a unit assigned with the sole responsibility of checking the salaries and catching those behind the over bloated salaries,’’ she said.
