Avengers Bow To Niger Delta Elders’ Pressure, Announce Ceasefire

The Niger Delta Avengers seem to have succumbed to the pressure of Niger Delta elders as they pledged yesterday night to lay down arms and resume dialogue with the federal government after months of attacks on the country’s oil and gas infrastructure.

In a message posted on NDA’s website late on Saturday, the group said it would “observe a cessation of hostilities” in the Niger delta and would support any effort to negotiate with “the federal government of Nigeria, representatives from the home countries of all multinational oil corporations and neutral international mediators.”
