A Lagos High Court was yesterday told by an Assistant Director of Nigerian Maritime Safety and Administration Agency, NIMASA, Mrs. Olamide Odusanya how the ex-NIMASA Director-General, Patrick Akpobolokemi authorised the payment of N498.2m of NIMASA’s money to himself and some of the defendants.
Odusanya, who is a prosecution witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in the trial of Akpolobokemi and six others, said that there were no financial transactions that took place in NIMASA without the approval of Akpobolokemi.
The former NIMASA boss and six others are accused of stealing N754.7 million belonging to the agency.
