Sources tell CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that the protesters, mainly Internally Displaced Persons and Borno State indigenes resident in Abuja, blocked the main entrance to the National Assembly, carrying placards saying that Ndume’s suspension was unfair. Others read, “Borno South people have lost their voice in the National Assembly,” “Saraki is a curse,” and so on.
Mr. Ndume was suspended last week for demanding for investigations against Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, who were accused of importing a Range Rover SUV without paying import duties and certificate forgery respectively.
However, the Saraki led Senate dismissed the allegations and suspended Ndume for six months on alleged breach of Senate rules of ethics.
